Bank of Ghana Ladies Association (BOGLA) is embarking on an exercise to educate women in the country on the new Ghana cedi.

The exercise which is basically targeted at women in trade has been executed in Tema, Nungua, Kasoa, Asasewa, Batwona, Bawjiase and Koforidua.

BOGLA last Saturday visited the Malamata, Kaneshie, Nima and Mamobi market to educate the women on the new cedi.

In these various markets, BOGLA took time to explain all that they need to know about the redenomination exercise.

With the one-on-one interaction, BOGLA also explained how they can convert the old currencies to the new Ghana cedi.

After the education, BOGLA distributed the convention charts and other materials to aid them transact their business with the new Ghana cedi.

Some of the charts had some samples of the new cedi notes and coins.

However, during the interaction, it was realised that, the women had heard about the redenomination exercise but did not know how to convert it and where they could change their old money when the exercise starts.

It was also detected that, because most of them are illiterates, it was somewhat difficult for them to understand.

BOGLA is also taking this education to churches. Some of the churches that they have been to are the Saint Johns Catholic church in Adenta, Saint Mary's Anglican Church at Lomoco area, Kaneshie Central Pentecost church and Winners Chapel, Ghana.
