The Appointment Committee of Parliament is scheduled to vet President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees from Thursday, January 23 to Monday, January 27, 2025.
The sessions will commence daily at 8:30 AM in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3 of the New Administration Block.
This process aims to assess the qualifications and suitability of the President’s nominees for various ministerial positions.
Among the nominees is Haruna Iddrisu, a seasoned politician and former Minority Leader in Parliament, who has been nominated as Minister for Education.
His extensive experience in legislative affairs is expected to bring valuable insights to the education sector.
George Opare-Addo, the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been nominated to lead the newly established Ministry for Youth Development and Empowerment.
He views his appointment as a collective opportunity to reshape the narrative of Ghana’s youth, stating, “This is not just a personal milestone but a collective opportunity to rewrite the story of our nation’s youth.”
Other notable nominees include Kwame Agbodza, proposed for the Ministry of Roads and Highways; Eric Opoku, for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture; Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, for the Ministry of Trade and Agribusiness; Ahmed Ibrahim, for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs; and Emelia Arthur, for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
