The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that voter turnout in the 2024 general elections across 275 constituencies stood at 63.97%.
This figure aligns with projections made earlier by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) using its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) methodology.
According to the EC’s official declaration, over 11.6 million valid votes were cast out of the total registered voters in the 275 constituencies, excluding Ablekuma North, which is yet to be announced.
The commission assured Ghanaians that the elections were conducted in a fair and transparent manner, leading to the declaration of former President John Dramani Mahama as the winner.
Meanwhile, CODEO, in a statement issued on December 9, 2024, highlighted that its PVT estimates accurately predicted the outcome of the presidential election.
The group emphasized that its findings verified the EC’s official results, with the PVT estimating a voter turnout of 63.9%, a margin that closely matches the EC’s figure of 63.97%.
“The PVT is an advanced and scientific election observation technique that combines well-established statistical principles and Information Communication Technology (ICT) to observe national elections on election day,” the statement noted in part.
The PVT results showed that John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured 56.9% of the votes, while the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia obtained 41.3%.
