Thousands of Ghanaians and National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters have converged at the Black Star Square in the Greater Accra Region for the inauguration of the President-Elect of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.
As early as 7:00 am, the iconic square was filled with jubilant crowds amid drumming and dancing.
Many attendees were dressed in NDC colours, eagerly awaiting the ceremony set to take place within a few hours.
A continuous stream of people was also seen making their way through the National Theatre and Ministries area to the venue.
This event marks a significant moment in Ghana’s political history as Mr. Mahama returns to the presidency after previously losing the seat to outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to host 21 Heads of State, three Vice Presidents, four Ministers, and 24 envoys, highlighting the occasion’s significance.
Some sightseers described Mahama’s return as a historic turning point and expressed optimism about his leadership.
They hoped for the fulfillment of campaign promises aimed at alleviating economic hardships faced by Ghanaians.
