Mr. Geoffrey Kini, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South Constituency in the Oti Region, has retained his seat at the just ended parliamentary and presidential elections.
Mr. Kini obtained a total of 26,385 votes against his contestant, Madam Sherifa Sekyere-Tijani, the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party, who obtained 18,385 votes.
Mr. Nakpatun Obayety Noah, the parliamentary candidate for the Liberal Party of Ghana, also obtained a total 204 votes out of the 45,137 valid votes cast.
Out of the 162 polling stations in the constituency, 45,780 persons cast their votes, 643 were rejected.
Mr. Yevunoo Michael, the returning officer, commended the security personnel, party agents, election observers, EC officials and the citizens for a peaceful election in the constituency.
There was wild jubilation by the NDC supporters in the constituency under the supervision of the security personnel.
