The 2004-year group of Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School alumni has completed the first phase of its legacy project, aimed at enhancing the school’s aesthetics.
This phase included the creation of a mini garden, painting, and beautification of the main entrance. The project, which cost GHS 197,417, was funded through joint contributions from members of the 2004-year group.
On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the first phase was officially commissioned and handed over to the school authorities as part of the group’s 20th-anniversary celebrations.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chairperson of the Legacy Project Committee, Madam Honorata Nsomah Akanzinge, explained that the decision to improve the school’s entrance was based on its prior unappealing state.
She also announced plans for the second and third phases of the project, which will involve renovating a monumental fountain near the entrance and refurbishing the administration block.
“As old students, it is our responsibility to give back to our alma mater to show appreciation for the academic and personal development we gained here,” Honorata said. She attributed their professional and personal successes to the discipline and excellent training they received at Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School.
Madam Akanzinge called on individuals and corporate organizations to support the initiative, both financially and in kind, to ensure the completion of the remaining phases.
Headmistress Felicia Asamoah Danquah expressed gratitude to the alumni for their efforts, describing the project as exceeding expectations.
“This gesture by the 2004-year group has transformed our entrance into one of the most unique in the Ashanti Region,” she noted.
The legacy project is expected to inspire other year groups to contribute to the continuous development of the school.
