The North East Region is one of the newly created Region by His Exellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in 2016. The North East Regional Capital is Nalerigu and was carved from the Northern Region of Ghana. It shares boundary with Upper East in the North,Togo in the East.
The North East is made up of two (2) Municipal Assemblies, East Mamprusi Municipal(Gambaga-Nalerigu) and West Mamprusi Municipal (Walewale). Also have four (4) Districts Assemblies , namely, Chereponi, Yunyoo -Nasua, Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri and Yagaba-Kubore, comprises the six administrative Districts of the North East Region.
DISTRIBUTION OF DEVELOPMENT- FAIR OR UNFAIR ?
The North East has experienced some massive development over the last 7 years in the sector of Education, Health, Roads, Sports etc. The question is how are these developmental projects fairly distributed among the various vulnerable and deprived Districts ?
Obviously No, because, some districts have been denied and neglect their share of the Regional Developmental Agenda base on some political merits while others had their shares.
All the developmental projects have been shifted to one of the Region, some Districts have had tremendous growth and development while others still remains deprived and neglected. This simply the division of the Region into two,the Mamprugu areas and non-Mamprugu areas.
West Mamprusi Municipal, East Mamprusi Municipal and Mamprugu Moaduri have gained some massive development in all sectors compare to Chereponi, Yunyoo-Nasua and Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri.
Several people have been asking why the three Mamprugu Districts gained much development than the others. The question remain unanswered.
Highlighting some few areas where people think development in the North East Region are unfairly distributed.
1. The Fire Service Training School is located at Wungu, village under the West Mamprusi Municipal, Walewale, some few kilometers away from Walewale township.
2. Regional Education Directorate(Regional Office), West Mamprusi Municipal, near Wungu.
3. Regional Health Directorate , East Mamprusi Municipal, at Gambaga.
4. STEM Senior High School, located at Kpasenkpe,West Mamprusi Municipal.
4. Nursing and Midwives Colleges. One in Nalerigu, one in Yagaba-Kubore, one in Walewale, all Mamprugu.
5. Regional Agriculture Directorate, Yagaba in the Mamprugu Moaduri District.
6. National Health Insurance Regional Office,Yagaba, in the Mamprugu Moaduri District.
7. Roads infrastructure. West Mamprusi Municipal, East Mamprusi Municipal and Yagaba Kubore have experience massive road network construction than the other three Districts such as Chereponi,Bunkpurugu.
Meanwhile, District like Chereponi, Yunyoo and Bunkpurugu have the deplorable roads in the whole of North East. Several communities in the above Districts are still not connected to the National GRID. West Mamprusi Municipal for instance, has 100% electrification, no village is left without electricity.
One of the fundamental benefits of the creation of these new Regions according to His Exellency Nana Akufo and the Npp government, is to ensure evenly distribution of the National cakes. We were also made to understand that, Regional Offices would be spread all over the various District Capitals.
This baffles the minds of citizens where such distribution are made on political merits.
Deprived District like Chereponi and Yunyoo cannot boast of any development that has come to their District over the last 7 years.
Chereponi, Yunyoo and Bunkpurugi Districts have numerous challenges such as poor road network, inadequate educational and health infrastructure, rural electrification, lack of portable water, traditional sources of drinking water, and others. The people are been denied their rights as Ghanaians, who queue to vote in every election years, pay taxes and contribute to the growth of our mother Ghana.
I asked the leaders and authorities of Ghana,
Where are the share of these innocent people..?
What has happened to their taxes..?
When will they have their share of National Cakes...?
Why are they neglected..?
Are they considered Ghanaians...?
The people of Chereponi, Yunyoo and Bunkpurugu need your swift actions,to put stop to their suffering. Government, NGOs, Philanthropic Organisations and all meaning Ghanaians, rescue the innocent people from continues lamenting over their plights.
THANK YOU.
