The construction of a GH¢7.3 million astro turf at the Asem cluster of schools in the Subin Constituency—the largest of its kind in the Ashanti region—will be completed by the end of this year, contractor Boateng Collins has announced.
With 80 percent of the work done, turfing is expected to be completed by Friday, followed promptly by infilling and the addition of VIP stands, washrooms, floodlights, and other essential amenities.
This expansive astro turf project is the initiative of NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Subin Constituency, Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah. Funded entirely from his personal resources, the project reflects his commitment to supporting and elevating the constituency.
During an inspection of the project on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah, a respected legal practitioner and Member of Parliament hopeful, explained that the astro turf responded to a request from the local youth, even before he announced his candidacy for Parliament.
He noted that the choice of location, within the Asem cluster of schools, honors the legacy of several distinguished alumni, including the late Asantehene Otumfour Opoku Ware, former President John Agyekum Kuffour, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, and entrepreneur Alhaji Asoma Banda. "This facility is a tribute to these leaders and reflects its unique purpose," he stated.
Yeboah also shared plans to replicate similar projects at the Adum Military Barracks and Amankwatia, marking the start of his proposed term as the Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency in 2025.
The popular candidate expressed his dedication to improving life in Subin through various development projects and urged constituents to support his candidacy as well as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's presidential bid in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
