RAINS hosts GLFx Chapter Delegation for a 4-day exchange program

The Regional Advisory Information and Network Systems (RAINS) recently welcomed a delegation from the GLFx Chapter in Dowa, Malawi, for a four-day exchange visit aimed at fostering collaboration and sharing experiences.

The visit featured a series of workshops and field engagements with local communities in Northern Ghana.

The exchange visit provided an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions and hands-on activities in two key communities—Bidima and Kpachelo—where sustainability and livelihood projects are being implemented by RAINS.

At Bidima, the GLFx team met with women involved in beekeeping, a booming enterprise within the community. Discussions during the visit focused on sustainable beekeeping practices, proper hive management, and ways to access markets for honey and other bee-related products.

The women beekeepers shared their success stories, while the visitors raised important questions about challenges and opportunities in the sector.

In Kpachelo, the delegation interacted with local farmers to gain insights into the crops cultivated in the region and traditional farming methods. The dialogue centered on enhancing productivity through sustainable agricultural practices that could help farmers adapt to the unpredictable climate, thereby improving their yields.

The exchange visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening ties between RAINS and the GLFx Chapter from Dowa. Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development and empowering local communities through the sharing of knowledge and expertise.

Executive Director of RAINS, Hardy Tijani the visit afforded the two organizations to efforts to address environmental conservation and livelihood sustainability. “We are delighted to have hosted our partners from the GLFx Chapter in Dowa. This visit marks a new chapter in our collaborative efforts to address environmental conservation and livelihood sustainability,” Mr. Hardy Tijani noted.

The partnership is expected to contribute to shared knowledge on environmental conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community resilience. RAINS, known for its leadership in promoting initiatives that uplift local livelihoods, continues to foster partnerships to advance community-driven solutions for sustainable development.
