The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians who submit forged or falsified documents during visa application processes.

In a public announcement dated October 14, the Ministry stressed that applicants who present fake documents for authentication will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The Ministry’s attention has been drawn to the fact that some Ghanaian applicants, knowingly or unknowingly, present forged or false documents to be authenticated and forwarded for the processing of visa applications,” the statement reads in part.

The Ministry emphasized that presenting forged documents is a criminal offense under Ghanaian law.

Specifically, offenders will face penalties under sections 158, 159, 166, and 169 of the Criminal and Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

These sections of the Act deal with crimes related to forgery and the use of false documents.

Going forward, any individual caught submitting fake documents will be handed over to law enforcement authorities for immediate prosecution.

“Applicants who present forged documents would be handed over to the police and prosecuted accordingly,” the Ministry warned.

The Ministry urged the public to comply with this directive to avoid legal consequences.
