The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Workers' Union is calling for the immediate payment of allowances owed to 77 employees who worked on the 13th All African Games project.
Although management had initially promised to pay each worker GHC 100 per day, the payment has yet to be fulfilled.
At a press conference, Union Chairman Samuel Nathaniel Kevor expressed deep frustration with GBC management, citing unkept promises and unfair treatment of the affected workers.
Kevor noted that initial negotiations began with an offer of GHC 59, which later increased to GHC 70, but still fell short of the original commitment.
Kevor emphasised the workers’ frustration, stating, “All African Games, we were told there was no contract by our management. They were told no money was paid. They started with 59 cedis negotiations.”
“They came back to say 70 cedis. I’m presenting the disagreements with management on behalf of the workers. For us, we feel the heat. We are saying that we disagree with that position and the world knows that we’ve worked, we’ve done enough, and we cannot continue.”
