President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, as the new Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Board.
This appointment was announced in a letter signed by the President’s Secretary, Ambassador Nana Asante Bediatuo.
Afenyo-Markin takes over from Herbert Krapa, who has been appointed Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.

The appointment of Afenyo-Markin as ECG Board Chairman is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the leadership of the company and ensure the effective delivery of electricity services to Ghanaians.
As a seasoned politician and experienced legislator, Afenyo-Markin is expected to bring his expertise and leadership skills to bear on the ECG Board, helping to drive the company’s vision and mission.
The appointment has been welcomed by stakeholders in the energy sector, who expressed confidence in Afenyo-Markin’s ability to lead the ECG Board to achieve its goals.
Afenyo-Markin’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the relevant authorities.
With this development, the ECG Board is expected to benefit from Afenyo-Markin’s vast experience and leadership acumen, ensuring the continued provision of reliable and efficient electricity services to Ghanaians.
