Former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Doe Adjaho has called on the residents of Frankadua and its environs in the Asuogyaman constituency to elect a National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate as their legislator in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
Adjaho believes that this move will contribute to the overall development of the constituency if John Dramani Mahama is elected as President.
Addressing the community during former President Mahama’s tour of the Eastern Region, the former speaker emphasized that while politics should not be centered on tribal affiliations, choosing an NDC Member of Parliament would be beneficial for the people of Frankadua under the next NDC government.
However, Adjaho issued a caution to the residents, urging them not to succumb to monetary inducements during the elections.
He expressed concern that accepting money in exchange for votes could be tantamount to selling one's birthright which could have adverse consequences on their wellbeing and their future generations.
He further urged the community members not to be deceived by tribal politics.
“I am pleading with the chiefs not to be deceived. If you elect a chief in Frankadua, you cannot select his spokesman from Accra, so I’m asking you to elect an NDC person to represent you in Parliament as you elect John Mahama as the president.
“You’ve seen what is happening in the country, things are hard now, so for a better future don’t look at what will be given to you. I’ll urge you not to take the money, but to vote against them,” Adjaho passionately advised.
