The highest bidder won in the end and not the people’s choice

The highest bidder won in the end and not the peoples choice

It is abundantly clear that the just concluded NPP primaries went in favor of the highest bidder as it would in an auction house. Everyone knew that the election was Kennedy Agyepong's election to win but money and political pressure on voters combined to rob him of his would be victory. Nonetheless, Kennedy, despite his loss, emerged as the clear winner of the just concluded primary election of the ruling NPP because the entire government machinery without leaving a single person out was up in arms against him and even people like Osei Kyei Mensah said emphatically that he would be surprised if Kennedy got even 20% of the votes. It turned out that, Ken in the end got about 36% making him a relevant power player who can't be discounted off by the NPP.

Nobody, and I mean nobody should chastise the soothsayers, the pastors, the priests and indeed all others who predicted a win for Ken as haven given false profecies because the writings were all over every where that Ken was going to win the election but Bawumia' s money pumped into the campaign in the last hour to buy votes was so huge to surmount. The government machinery spent close to gh2.5 billion to buy votes on the eve of the election.that huge payouts obscured whatever payment Ken had made.

This development is a stark warning to the ndc that this Akufo Addo's government wouldn't care to spend over gh4 billion to win the election next year for Bawumia so as to cover their evil deeds and corruption which is now the order of the day. How on earth could Bawumia have spent in excess of Gh 3 billion to buy the primary election? How much is his total salary for the entire 8 years? NPP has suspended about 90% of all ongoing projects in order to use the money to fund Bawumia's election bid. Now, Bawumia won the election, Ghana on the other hand lost big time. His win could therefore, be described as the best win that money and intimidation could buy. We are all keeping our fingers crossed to see how much he is going to buy the general election next year.
