Ghanaians old enough to remember the days of the former Ghanaian leader, John Jerry Rawlings, will agree that the extent of the corruption of previous Ghanaian leaders, which provoked him to stage a coup, cannot be comparable to this extremely unusual level of corruption by Akufo Addo’s government, which has affected the entire infrastructure of the country, leading to the rapid collapse of the economy, the collapse of banking institutions, high rates of crime and unemployment as well.

When a goal is reached, certain things justify the means or the end, but when the same issue arises again or when history repeats itself worse than before, it becomes apparent that the hate-filled loss of time and life was unnecessary. This is the situation with the late John Jerry Rawlings when in 1976, he believed that corruption had flooded Ghana's banks under consecutive governments and that he needed to take action to protect Ghanaians.

Why should individuals who steal millions of dollars and keep in their homes be allowed to enjoy impunity, whereas Akwasi Amankwaa Afrifa and Ignatius Kutu Acheampong were put to death for not stealing such amounts of money?

In what he called a "House Cleaning Exercise," up to eight army officers, including three heads of state, were accused of corruption and executed after being found guilty. Overnight, millions of Ghanaians hailed Rawlings as a hero but how do Ghanaians today regard their country? Only hypocrites, tribal bigots, dishonest pastors, and corrupt politicians can assert that Ghana is on the right path because people must support this worst and most corrupt dictatorship to put food on their tables.

Rawlings who claims he wants to eradicate corruption said, "The executed officers were jumbo-size armed robbers whose execution left the world smelling sweeter.” Ghana is now more bitter than the bile, the country is off track like a derailed train and going as fast as that the president has confessed that he can’t do anything about it but the next leader will come to solve the problem. May I ask the president, which leader is he talking about, Bawumia or Akoto? It’s a profound disgrace to the president.

How can someone who pledged to Ghanaians to make their lives better leave the nation in such a catastrophe? How can someone who promised to protect the people’s finances be so deeply corrupt? How can someone who criticized Mahama for implementing too much taxation on the people end up increasing it? He is not a sincere politician who genuinely cares for the well-being of the oppressed masses, that’s why he has failed. He only came to change the names of institutions to honor his family.

Imagine the church-related corruption, which foundation has not even been started. Think of the corruption of several NPP politicians including Eugene Arhin, Charles Bissue, Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, Cecilia Dapaah, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison, Pastor Kusi Boateng, and many others, would Rawlings let these people survive what he calls the “House Cleaning” exercise? I don't think so, because these people have committed more serious corruption cases than those he executed.

How much money did Afrifa and Accheampong steal to be executed? Acheampong even borrowed money from former Ghanaian boxer, D. K. Poison, but today the likes of Akufo Addo, Bawumia, Eugene Arhin, Cecilia Dapaah, Ken Ofori-Atta, and more, have stolen millions, despite some hasn’t been exposed, continue to enjoy impunity. That’s why I am saying that the coup in Ghana is long overdue. Ghanaians are suffering and Kayayee are suffering let me remind Bawumia.

When a trader invests money in a business and things don’t work out as planned, they can explain to you the factors that contributed to the company's failure or debt. Therefore, if the NPP administration has incurred such a large amount of debt in Ghana but is unable to explain how it did so or how the money was spent, it should be obvious to anybody with common sense that public funds have been embezzled, just as the COVID funds were embezzled.

Akufo Addo now views crime and corruption as lucrative businesses, and he intends to restore democracy in Niger by sending ECOWAS troops, including Ghanaian troops. This is unacceptable; the president must go to fight the Niger army by himself or with members of his family. He shouldn't be too happy because he is the commander-in-chief of the Ghanaian Army, since a man's enemy comes from his own household.
