Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has hit out at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for praising Mrs. Cecilia Abena Dapaah after her resignation as the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.
After receiving the resignation letter of Cecilia Dapaah, President Akufo-Addo said he applauds the loyalty of the former Sanitation Minister and wishes her the very best in her future endeavours.
“I have received your letter, dated Saturday, 22ND July 2023, resigning from office as Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and as a member of the Government.
“I am confident, like you, that, at the end of the day, your integrity, whilst in office, will be fully established. I wish you the very best in all your endeavours.
“It is with considerable regret that I accept your resignation, and I applaud your loyalty to the image and standing of the government,” a letter from President Akufo-Addo accepting the resignation letter of the Minister said.
Reacting to the letter from the President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari says it is an indication that he endorses corruption in his administration.
“Should we accept the resignation of Ghana’s #Sanitationminister as the solution to the conundrum of stolen money please! Our president Akufo-Addo has endorsed this act of corruption by praising her loyalty and “fidelity to” this corrupt government,” Joyce Bawah Mogtari said.
Meanwhile, the founder of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe has described as sad the resignation of the Sanitation Minister.
In his view, the Minister was one of the better ones in the Akufo-Addo government and worked hard.
“Minister Cecilia Dapaah resigns. She was one of the better ones. Sad she fell on the 'questionable wealth' dagger. There are very few hard-working ministers left. Far more are fantastically incompetent and amassing so much,” Franklin Cudjoe shared in a Facebook post.
