Asafo-Adjei Lacks Credibility to Call Out Bawumia

Maybe somebody more studious and politically relevant ought to remind Mr. Kwame Asafo-Adjei, described by the media as a former Member of Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo, in the Asante Region, that it was the now-Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, as a Deputy-Governor of the Bank of Ghana, working under the sterling tutelage of Dr. Paul Acquah, extant substantive Governor of the Bank of Ghana, who spearheaded the landmark effort to redenominate the effectively collapsed Cedi currency that the newly elected President John “The Gentle Giant” Agyekum-Kufuor had inherited from the late President Jeremiah “Jerry” John Rawlings-led junta of the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) and, immediately after the latter, eight protracted years of the faux-democratically elected regime of the present main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Vice-President Bawumia also has an enviable international stature as an expert economist and an accomplished academician that absolutely none of the current aspirants vying to succeed a lame-duck President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo possesses, having once been seconded by both Boards-of-Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the twin Bretton-Woods establishments of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and The World Bank – The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) – to Zimbabwe to facilitate the currency re-stabilization of the macroeconomy of that historic southern African country.

You see, I often do not want to haunch down the gutter to throw spitballs with irredeemable political failures like Mr. Kwame Asafo-Adjei who is not widely known across Ghana for having enviably distinguished himself as a Parliamentarian, in the way that Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has clearly and indisputably distinguished and creditably acquitted himself as both a civil and a public servant (See “NPP Presidential Race: Stay Away, You Have Failed – Former NPP MP Tells Bawumia” Ghanaweb.com 5/29/23). Now, it absolutely goes without saying that a failed politician could not have won two consecutive nationwide elections in the way and manner enviably achieved by Dr. Bawumia.

The dauntingly uphill battle for Mr. Asafo-Adjei here is that the Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo native, from the Asante Region, has decided to throw his rather feathery and statistically negligible support behind a candidate who threw a tantrum and childishly resigned his membership from the New Patriotic Party in the heated runup to the 2008 Presidential Election, primarily because Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen could not abide his decisive defeat at the hands of the twice-elected “Little Man from Kyebi.”

You see, Dear Reader, the pity and the plain and unvarnished fact which an irredeemably failed local politician like Kwame Asafo-Adjei adamantly refuses to recognize is the fact that Alan Cash, as Mr. Kyerematen is popularly known, is an insufferably arrogant presidential-candidacy aspirant who thinks and believes himself to be much bigger and more significant than the very institutional establishment of the New Patriotic Party, which institutional establishment Alan Cash also, paradoxically, wants to literally use as a step-ladder to climb into the plush, red-carpeted, capacious and ineffably well-appointed Presidential Suite of Jubilee House, without having won even a District Assembly Election, much less a Parliamentary Election, or even a party Presidential Primary.

That is just how insufferably arrogant this tantrum-throwing narcissistic former Kufuor- and Akufo-Addo-appointed Trade and Industry Minister has made of himself. A veritable nuisance, to be certain. Then also, another problem that a viscerally and a virulently anti-Bawumia critic like the former Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo MP has here is the fact that whatever policy flops or failures that could be genuinely or credibly attributed to Vice-President Bawumia, also has the detailed fingerprints of Candidate Kyerematen smack on top of it, as the latter has also been a key cabinet appointee and a major player of the Akufo-Addo Administration. Besides, Alan Cash has also scandalously demonstrated to all registered and eligible Ghanaian voters that he has absolutely no remarkable sense personal responsibility for his own character flaws or rank and rancid misbehavior.

As well, not only has the former Agyekum-Kufuor-appointed Trade and Industry and Presidential Special Initiatives (PSI) Minister adamantly refused to accept the fact that he had once written and officially and publicly tendered his membership resignation from the New Patriotic Party (for which he has also never even once apologized), the very first statement that Candidate Kyerematen released to the media shortly upon his widely publicized exit out of the present Akufo-Addo Administration, was to brazenly fault his most recent major political benefactor for not having racked up enough political capital to enable an imperiously “Baboonish” Candidate Kyerematen use as his Jubilee House calling card or prime grist for his electioneering-campaign platform and agenda.

Ultimately, the biggest headache that the 2024 Kyerematen Presidential Election Campaign Operatives are dauntingly faced with is how to market the long-shot presidential ambition of a pathologically and a megalomaniacally self-serving party renegade who once crossed ideological lines to both endorse and vote for the presidential election of the National Democratic Congress-sponsored Mills-Mahama Ticket in the 2008 General Election. I mean, how does one seriously range Alan Cash against Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” Dramani Mahama, the very National Democratic Congress-sponsored “Presidential Undercard” for whom an implacable mercilessly trounced Presidential-Primary Candidate Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen and his remarkable percentage of staunch and fanatical supporters cast their protest ballot in the 2008 Presidential Election? Now, who said karma wasn’t a bitch?!
