Theme

As a passionate peace loving and development-oriented person, Naa Dr. Naadeb Tierubore Tanzu Benon V succinctly carved a theme for the event that reflected his vision - “Uniting Puffien Traditional Area for Development: the Dawn of a New Era”. Growing up as a young man, Naa Dr. Benon V holds in high esteem, the norms and traditional values of the land. This, he acquired through youth gatherings for entertainment during their time.

Youth and Traditional Values

He said, “we have observed the dwindling youth gatherings for entertainment and or socio-economic activities like communal work and farming activities. It is really very sad to say there are no more youth gatherings for moonlight entertainment neither do youth sit around the aged for story-telling, riddle recitals and what have you”. Naa Dr. Benon V went further to question the mode through which our most cherished norms and values would be handed down to the next generation. He questioned, …“how can traditon, our norms and values be handed down under such circumstances? He said, “one may ascribe “modernisation” as the causal factor but should we modernise to erode our culture or tradition? He therefore stated without mincing words that his reign would see to the revamping of all important social groupings that would propel socio-economic development. “A new era has now dawned on Puffien and in this era, the subchiefs, the elders and I have it tall on our agenda to revamp the necessary social groupings for socio-economic development. He said it is only through this that they can pass on true identity as Puffienme to future generations.
