The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana has asked Parliament to immediately pass laws that would totally prohibit all sorts of Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) practices and activities in the country.

According to the SDA church, legislation passed on the LGBTQI lifestyle will help fight it easily. The church has indicated, however, that while Ghanaians wait for the legislative action by the parliamentarians, the Seventh-day Adventist Church would not relent on her efforts towards preaching and sensitising members and the public about the spiritual, physical, socio-cultural dangers associated with homosexuality.

Presenting the Church's position on LGBTQI at a press conference in Kumasi on Thursday February 25, 2021, Pastor (Dr) Kwame Kwanin Boakye who is the President of the Northern Ghana Union Mission of S.D.A Church stated that "All practice, like homosexualism and its relationship (LGBTQI), which dehumanize the social well-being of Ghanaians should not be tolerated and must be condemned in the country.

As a church, the Seventh- Day Adventists believe that sexual intimacy belongs only within the marital relationships of a man and a woman; heterosexual pattern. (Gen 2:24). The Bible makes no accommodation for homosexual activity. (1 Cor 6:9-11).

For these reasons Seventh Day Adventists are opposed to homosexual practices and its relationships (LGBTQI). The Seventh Day Adventist Church and other Bible base organizations, Islam and Nananom believe that homosexualism and lesbianism are satanic and curse and should be opposed".

''We want to commend and express our sincere thank-you to the president of the Republic: President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and the Government, for reaffirming that "Ghana will never and cannot go gay". All other religious organizations and Nananom are exhilarated to hear that homosexualism and lesbianism are not part of Ghana and can not be part of its citizens'', Pastor Dr. Kwanin Boakye said.

''The Seventh Day Adventist Church and other Bible-based organizations, Islam and Nananom believe that homosexualism and lesbianism are satanic and curse and should be opposed'', he added.

Pastor Kwanin Boakye said the SDA Church pledges her support to the government to fight against homosexual activity in the country.
