Veteran sound engineer and music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, has encouraged emerging musicians to remain creative and consistent, noting that newcomers can easily surpass established artists in the music industry.
Speaking to Evergreen Asantewaa on Woezor TV’s Breakfast Café, Fredyma explained that no artist’s position is guaranteed, as audience preferences evolve and new talent continues to emerge.
“Overtaking is allowed in this industry,” he said, adding that although he may have more experience than younger musicians, every generation brings something valuable to the table.
Fredyma emphasised the importance of consistency, stressing that artists must keep producing music and engaging their listeners if they hope to sustain long-term careers.
His remarks came during a discussion on what it takes to build a successful music career in Ghana, touching on the role of production quality, strategic planning, and cultivating a loyal fan base.
For emerging musicians, his message was clear: experience matters, but creativity and consistency remain the true drivers of success in an industry where new talent can rise at any moment.
