Gospel musician Yaw Siki has opened up about his past pornography addiction, revealing that the habit began during his Junior High School (JHS) years and later influenced his lifestyle and music career.
The former highlife musician, who gained popularity with his hit song Wo Pe Dodo, said his first exposure to pornography came through curiosity after a female friend told him that a classmate had acquired a cassette containing pornographic content.
Speaking in an interview, Yaw Siki explained that what started as a one-time experience gradually developed into a habit and eventually became an addiction.
“Out of curiosity, we watched. And by watching, that’s how my porn addiction began. Just by watching my first porn video, I started watching. I watched from time to time, gradually, gradually, and then I became addicted,” he said.
According to the musician, he was already struggling with the addiction when he released Wo Pe Dodo. He noted that his exposure to pornography influenced his sexual experiences and contributed to the themes reflected in his music at the time.
Yaw Siki also disclosed that he became sexually active at a young age, explaining that his early exposure to pornographic content shaped his understanding of sex. He added that the pattern continued into his teenage years, when he began masturbating and paying for sex.
Reflecting on his musical past, he described Wo Pe Dodo as a product of the lifestyle he had embraced before becoming a Christian. He linked the song to what he called a “lustful seed” planted during his formative years.
Yaw Siki has since left his former musical path behind and embraced gospel music. He now uses his personal experiences to discuss his Christian faith and the transformation he says he has undergone.
