Anticipation is rising among nightlife lovers and tourism enthusiasts as Polo Beach Club hints at a comeback following its demolition on October 2.
The club’s official Instagram page shared an eight‑second video showing an excavator clearing a beachfront for new construction. The caption read: “The rumours are true. We are coming back soon. Stay tuned for what’s next at Polo Beach Club. #PoloBeachClub.”
The post has since generated 133,000 views, 4,873 likes, 601 replies, 337 reposts, and 4,420 shares, with many eager to know the club’s new location ahead of the upcoming Detty December festivities.
Polo Beach Club was demolished on Friday, October 2, 2026, during a security‑led clearance operation at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. Personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces’ 48 Engineer Regiment and the Ghana Police Service removed structures along the La beachfront, citing encroachment and safety concerns raised by Labadi Beach Hotel.
The exercise also affected nearby venues, including La Pleasure Beach. Prior to the demolition, Spartan‑Ives Limited, operators of Polo Beach Club, had filed a lawsuit on September 16, 2026, against Labadi Beach Hotel and National Security officials over ownership of the disputed beachfront land.
Former NPP Chairman Freddie Blay alleged that the demolition was ordered by President John Dramani Mahama despite an unresolved court case, while officials maintained that the action followed a request from the hotel and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
Polo Beach Club was widely known for its luxury beachside venue at Labadi Beach, hosting high‑profile events, nightlife activities, and its signature Detty December celebrations featuring live music, DJs and vendor booths.
