Socialite Efia Odo has raised concerns about the Ghana Police Service’s new TRAFFITECH‑GH initiative, arguing that authorities should prioritise fixing malfunctioning traffic lights before investing in traffic enforcement cameras.
TRAFFITECH‑GH is designed to use technology to monitor road users and enforce traffic regulations as part of efforts to curb indiscipline on Ghana’s roads. But Efia Odo believes the basics of road infrastructure must be addressed first.
In a post on X on September 30, she criticised the decision to channel resources into cameras while many traffic lights across the country remain out of service.
“Traffic lights don't even work, but somehow y'all have a budget to install cameras? Great idea, but how 'bout we get the lights to work first!!” she wrote.
Her comments have amplified public conversation around the need to fix existing road infrastructure challenges alongside the introduction of technology‑driven enforcement systems.
