The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a final notice to traders, garage operators, businesses and other occupants at Abrepo Junction and adjoining areas to vacate the designated project area by Sunday, October 4.
The Assembly said the directive is necessary to pave the way for preparatory and enabling works under Phase 1 of the Suame Interchange Project.
It cautioned that a designated demolition and enforcement team will begin removing unauthorised structures, goods, equipment, building materials and other items left behind from Thursday, October 8.
“The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly therefore wishes to emphasise that the deadline for voluntary relocation is Sunday, 4th October 2026,” the Assembly said in a statement issued on Thursday, October 1.
The KMA said the preparatory works at the Abrepo section will include the relocation of affected utility infrastructure, including Ghana Water Company Limited pipelines and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) lines.
The works will also involve preparations for traffic management within the project corridor ahead of the main construction activities.
The Assembly said affected persons had previously been engaged and given notice to relocate voluntarily to allow the contractor to commence the necessary works.
It therefore advised all occupants to remove their belongings and vacate the affected areas before the deadline, warning that it would not be responsible for any loss or damage to items left behind.
“Accordingly, from Thursday, 8th October 2026, a designated demolition and enforcement team from the KMA will commence the removal of all unauthorised structures, goods, equipment, building materials and other items remaining within the designated project area,” it said.
Affected traders who require alternative spaces have been advised to relocate to the Racecourse Market, while garage operators have been asked to contact the Works Engineer at the Racecourse Market for assistance in identifying suitable relocation sites.
