A social media exchange between Ghanaian music stars Sarkodie and Stonebwoy has escalated into a public disagreement after comments by Sarkodie about fans creating unnecessary rivalries among artistes.

The rapper had urged musicians to be cautious about engaging with supporters who attack other artistes in an attempt to promote their favourites.

In a post on X, Sarkodie warned artistes against encouraging such behaviour, saying some fans seek to elevate their preferred musicians by putting down others.

“To the artistes: just because a fan sh**s on another brand to elevate you doesn't mean they love you more. Be careful about entertaining that energy,” he wrote.

Stonebwoy subsequently responded, raising concerns about what he described as a lack of support from Sarkodie and questioning aspects of their relationship.

Among the issues raised by Stonebwoy was Sarkodie’s failure to congratulate him following his OVO Arena Wembley concert in London. Stonebwoy said he had personally called Sarkodie after his Royal Albert Hall performance to congratulate him.

He further suggested that some of Sarkodie’s posts on social media were aimed at him.

Sarkodie rejected the suggestion and questioned why Stonebwoy had interpreted his posts that way.

“The first thing I asked you when we got on that call, and I still want to ask, is 'What is your problem?'” Sarkodie said.

He maintained that he had never used social media to attack or ridicule Stonebwoy and pointed to their previous interactions as evidence of his position.

Sarkodie also referenced his decision to invite Stonebwoy to perform at his Royal Albert Hall concert, arguing that he would not have extended such an invitation if there had been a personal problem between them.

“If I had any issues with you, I wouldn't have been the one to pick up the phone, call you, and invite you to my RAH show,” he said.

The disagreement, however, continued to grow, with Stonebwoy making further allegations during a live social media session in which he accused Sarkodie of disrespect, hypocrisy and betrayal.

The controversy also drew in Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town, after Stonebwoy mentioned him in connection with the 2025 BHIMFest.

Angel Town subsequently released screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation involving Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylzz, saying he wanted to set the record straight.

“Just state facts… don't lie on my name,” Angel Town said.

The public exchange has since sparked widespread reactions from fans, with many urging the two artistes to settle their differences privately.

Sarkodie and Stonebwoy remain among Ghana’s most prominent music artistes and have collaborated on several occasions.
