Ghanaian actress, Clara Amoateng Benson, popularly known as Maame Serwaa, is celebrating two decades in filmmaking in Ghana's entertainment sector.

The actress took to social media to express profound gratitude to the sector's stakeholders for years of opportunity to unearth her acting talents.

“20 years in the Film Industry. Two decades of passion, growth, challenges, unforgettable moments, and countless lessons. I’m deeply grateful for every opportunity, every role, and every person who has been part of my journey, and everyone who has supported me along the way,” she stated.

“From where I started to where I am today, I can only say thank you God. 20 years of doing what I love, and I’m still here, still learning, still growing, and still passionate about the craft. Cheers to 20 years of acting, storytelling, and making memories. Here’s to many more years ahead.”

Maame Serwaa began with child roles in Kumawood films. Known for “pretentious and crazy acting” and consistency on set, she has starred in notable movies like 'School Girl' (2013), 'The Christmas After Party' (2018), 'My Mother My Jewel', 'Maame Serwaa Amanehunu', 'Bayie Economy', 'Me Ba' and others.

She featured in BBC Africa's documentary on the thriving Ghanaian movie industry in April 2018. The documentary focused on how Kumawood thrives despite low budgets. Maame Serwaa has to her credit awards such as Kumawood Best Actress of the Year – 2015, City People Entertainment Award, and Best Indigenous Actress of the Year 2015.
