Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has appealed to Ghanaians to remain patient as the country continues to experience power outages, describing the current disruptions as a temporary measure to protect the stability of the Akosombo power system.

Mr Jinapor said the government expects the country to return to its main power source next month, a development he believes will help ease pressure on the electricity supply and improve reliability.

The ongoing outages have affected households and businesses in parts of the country, renewing concerns about the reliability of electricity supply and the impact of frequent disruptions on economic activities.

However, the Energy Minister explained that the current challenges were necessary to safeguard the broader power system and prevent more severe disruptions.

“We are asking Ghanaians to bear with us,” Mr Jinapor said, stressing that the situation was temporary and that efforts were underway to restore a more stable supply.

According to him, returning to the country's main power source next month should provide some relief and help stabilise electricity generation.

The government's handling of the power situation has come under increasing scrutiny, with consumers demanding clearer information on the causes of the outages and assurances on when reliable supply will be restored.

Mr Jinapor, however, maintained that protecting the integrity of the power system remained the immediate priority as authorities worked towards restoring stable electricity supply.
