Ghanaian rapper Kojo Cue has made his stance on rap beef crystal clear, declaring that while he is open to lyrical battles, there are certain icons in the industry he would never disrespect, no matter the circumstances.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM Kumasi with host MC Portfolio, the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” hitmaker emphasized the deep respect he holds for some of Ghana’s pioneering rap figures.
According to Kojo Cue, legends such as Okyeame Kwame, Flowking Stone, Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour, and Okomfour Kwadee have earned a level of reverence that places them beyond the reach of diss tracks.
“I can never diss old gees like Okyeame Kwame, Flowking Stone, Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour and Kwadee even if one steps on my toes,” he stated.
The rapper explained that these artistes are not just peers but trailblazers who laid the foundation for the current generation of musicians. For him, engaging them in beef would be both disrespectful and unnecessary, given their immense contributions to Ghana’s hip-hop and hiplife culture.
However, Kojo Cue made it clear that his respect has boundaries. He indicated that he is not opposed to rap battles in general and would respond accordingly if challenged by other artistes he considers to be on his level.
“But aside from those rappers, if you come after me and I find you worth it, I’ll diss you back,” he added, signaling his readiness to defend his craft when necessary.
