The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Abdulai Mohammed Saani, over a provocative TikTok video related to the death of the late Mion Lana, Mahamaru Abdulai.
The arrest followed the circulation of the video, which prompted the Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID), in collaboration with the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID), to launch intelligence-led investigations to identify its creator and those involved in its dissemination.
According to the Police, investigators traced the suspect to Kumbungu, where he was arrested on August 20, 2026.
Abdulai Mohammed Saani was subsequently transported to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters in Tamale to assist with investigations.
The Police said investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the production and circulation of the video, as well as to establish whether other individuals were involved in the matter.
