
Johannesburg, South Africa Nigerian music star Crown Uzama, best known by his stage name Shallipopi, has been named TikTok’s 2025 Artist of the Year for Sub-Saharan Africa at the platform’s annual awards ceremony held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa 2025, themed “New Era, New Icons”, brought together top content creators, musicians, and influencers from across the region to celebrate the short-form video app’s biggest contributors of the year.

Shallipopi earned the prestigious title of Artist of the Year for his outstanding influence on the TikTok platform throughout 2025. His hit track “Laho” a catchy Afrobeats single from his album Auracle that features the rapper’s signature refrain “Minister of enjoyment” dominated TikTok trends across Africa, becoming the soundtrack for viral videos and dance challenges.
