I remain committed to NPP despite withdrawal from National Organiser race — Salam Mustapha

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has reaffirmed his commitment to the party despite withdrawing from the race for the position of National Organiser.

The NPP Youth leader said his decision to withdraw from the contest was not a reflection of his commitment to the NPP or its ideals.

He said he would continue to contribute to the party’s unity, rebuilding and efforts to regain political power.

“I wish to emphasise that this decision does not diminish my commitment to the New Patriotic Party or to the ideals and values of our great tradition. My dedication to the Party remains firm,” he said.

The former national organiser hopeful formally announced his withdrawal from the race in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the NPP National Officers Elections Committee on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

He explained that the decision had been difficult, particularly because of the encouragement and support he had received from party members, delegates, colleagues and well-wishers across the country.

According to him, circumstances beyond his control had made it impossible for him to continue with his candidature.

He also appealed to his supporters to accept the decision and remain united in the larger interest of the party.

“Political positions may come and go, but our commitment to the NPP and the future of our Party must remain greater than any individual ambition,” he said.

Mustapha further pledged to support the NPP’s electoral efforts and expressed his desire to see former Vice President and 2028 presidential candidate of the party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, become the next President of Ghana.
