John Boadu, Sammy Crabbe, Paul Afoko, Boakye Agyarko secure 1st to 4th spots in NPP chairmanship ballot

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has secured the first position on the ballot paper for the party’s National Chairmanship election scheduled for October 3, 2026.

Mr Boadu emerged first in the balloting exercise conducted to determine the order in which candidates will appear on the ballot paper for the NPP’s national executive elections.

Former National Chairman Paul Afoko secured the third position, while Sammy Crabbe picked the second slot.

Former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko will contest from the fourth position on the ballot paper.

The balloting forms part of preparations for the national executive elections, with the various candidates expected to intensify their campaigns and engagements with delegates ahead of the October 3 polls.

The National Chairmanship contest has attracted significant attention within the NPP, with the contenders seeking to persuade delegates that they have what it takes to unite the party, strengthen its organisational structures and improve its electoral prospects.

The elections will determine the individuals who will occupy key positions in the party’s national leadership and guide the NPP through its next phase of political activities.

The new executives are expected to focus on rebuilding the party at the grassroots, strengthening coordination among its structures, mobilising members and positioning the party for future electoral contests.

For the chairmanship contenders, issues surrounding party unity, grassroots mobilisation, internal cohesion, organisational development and strategies for improving the NPP’s electoral fortunes are expected to feature prominently in the campaign.

The October 3 election will ultimately give NPP delegates the opportunity to select the national executives they believe are best placed to lead the party and oversee its affairs in the coming years.
