Daddy Lumba's funeral: Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu blames Jigga and Papa Shee for chaos over widowhood rites

Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu has taken issue with Jigga and Papa Shee, accusing them of fuelling confusion over the burial arrangements of the late relative of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, particularly regarding the widowhood rites.

He says their public comments have contributed significantly to the tensions surrounding the funeral plans.

Speaking on United Showbiz, Abusuapanin Owusu said Jigga has not been truthful in his recent media interviews, despite presenting himself as a spokesperson for Lumba’s sisters. According to him, many of Jigga’s claims are false.

He explained that Jigga was present at the family meeting where the burial date was agreed upon. Yet, Jigga later stated in interviews that he was neither part of the planning nor aware of the date. Abusuapanin Owusu described this as misleading and a major source of the public confusion.

He also spoke about Odo Broni and Akosua Serwaa, the two women expected to perform the widowhood rites. He said both women have shown full cooperation, adding that they have agreed to participate in the cultural requirements calmly and respectfully. Discussions, he noted, have already been held for both to fulfil their roles without difficulty.

Abusuapanin Owusu stressed that these women are not responsible for the controversy. Instead, he pointed to Jigga and Papa Shee as the ones escalating the situation unnecessarily. He accused them of creating tension within the family and misinforming the public, even though the key people involved have shown readiness to uphold tradition and ensure a dignified funeral.

He assured the public that preparations are progressing smoothly and urged them to disregard misleading commentary. He said the family remains committed to conducting the funeral in unity and in accordance with custom, and he hopes external influences do not disrupt the process further.
