Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Davido, has revealed that one of the standout tracks on his new album 5ive nearly never made it to release.
Speaking in an interview with Emmy Award-winning host Rocsi Diaz, the Nigerian hitmaker disclosed that With You — his collaboration with Omah Lay, was almost cut from the project.
“It is so funny I almost didn't add 'With You', and that is crazy. Every time I think about almost taking it out, my heart starts beating. Shoutout to Omah Lay, I am just happy that we were able to collaborate on just a true African classic,” Davido said in a TikTok clip of the interview.
The singer, known for global hits like 'Fall and Unavailable', described the track as a “true African classic” and expressed gratitude for keeping it on the album.
Looking ahead, Davido also revealed ambitions beyond the studio. He announced plans to create the biggest African music festival in the world, a project he says will showcase the continent's sound and talent on a global stage.
5ive has been one of the most talked-about releases of 2025, and with 'With You' now a fan favourite, Davido says he has no regrets about leaving it in.
