Ghanaian singer and songwriter Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome, popularly known as Cina Soul, has reported Kumawood actor Big Akwes to the Ghana Police Service over comments she describes as hate speech and a personal threat.
The actor was asked during a segment on Bryt TV to choose whom he would marry, kiss, or kill among evangelist Nana Agradaa, actress Vivian Jill, and singer Cina Soul.
In response, Big Akwes said he would kiss Nana Agradaa, marry Vivian Jill—whom he has starred in movies with—and use “juju to call the spirit” of Cina Soul and “stab her to death.”
Reacting on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, July 1, the singer described the comments as disturbing and dangerous.
“Ghana Police Service, I’m deeply unsettled by this. I initially chose not to respond to earlier comments because I do not wish to be associated with this individual, but at this point I feel genuinely threatened,” she posted.
“I may not know the proper channels to report this, but it’s critical we take a firm stance against this kind of dangerous rhetoric being broadcast on our TV and radio platforms. We must not normalize hate.”
