Empress Gifty's lawyer, Sam Kyere of Osei Aidoh Akpokavie and Co., expressed disappointment after the court hearing today due to Nana Agradaa's lawyer missing the session.
The defamation lawsuit, filed at the Tema High Court, seeks GH₵20 million in damages over alleged defamatory statements made by Agradaa about Empress Gifty.
Empress Gifty is also seeking a perpetual injunction to prevent Agradaa from making further defamatory remarks, an order for Agradaa to remove all defamatory videos and audios from her social media platforms, and coverage of legal costs, including lawyers' fees.
The court hearing was stalled due to Agradaa's lawyer failing to appear, prompting Empress Gifty's lawyers to submit an affidavit in opposition, asserting that Agradaa's statements clearly constitute defamation. The court has scheduled a hearing for this application on June 26, 2025.
