Yeni Kuti, a daughter of the legendary Nigerian singer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, says she sees no reason why any woman should leave her husband over “mere” cheating.
In an interview with Nigerian media personality, Chude Jideonwo, on Friday, May 26, Yeni noted that there is no way she will leave her marriage if her husband cheats on her.
"I won’t leave my husband if he is cheating. That is me. You can leave your own husband if he is cheating. That is you. Don’t judge me, I’m not judging you," she said.
“My father had 27 wives, my mother didn’t go. It’s me that will now come and go because of one girl. It cannot happen,” she added.
Fela Kuti, Nigeria's pioneer of Afrobeat music, was known for advocating for human rights and speaking truth to power through his controversial lyrics.
His music and life influenced generations of Nigerians and Africans.
Yeni herself is also a well-known dancer with several awards to her credit.
He left behind several children including Nigerian Grammy-nominated Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti.
