Good Causes Foundation, a non-profit organisation of the National Lotteries Authority has gifted veteran Ghanaian actor William Addo an amount of GHc15,000.
Their gesture comes after reports indicated that the veteran actor had been blind for ten years after he was diagnosed with glaucoma.
Further reports stated that the actor’s electricity had been disconnected by the ECG for about five years due to his inability to pay his bills of about GHc5,000.
Mr. Addo, after his predicament, relocated to Tefle in the Volta Region where he hails from.
The foundation said they acted after a report by media personality, MzGee.
Ama Frimpong, a coordinator of the Good Causes Foundation, NLA, stated that the gesture was an effort of her noble department due to the veteran’s relationship with the Authority.
“The Good Foundation though this is someone who has served his nation well. At a point, he had a relationship with the NLA so this is what the Good Causes Foundation is all about helping the aged, orphans, the vulnerable, and marginalized in society,” she stated.
She indicated that the money is to cover the electricity bills and rewiring of his house for reconnection of power to the house.
Part of the money would be used for the veteran’s upkeep until the foundation pays him the next visit.
“What we will do is that we will go to Tefle with MzGee as a follow up soon. We will like to get there and see that there is light in the house and the reason the money was given was put to that use,” Mrs. Frimpong added.
