The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has announced that a-one-week celebration will be held on Thursday, November 27, to observe the death of the late Ronnie Coaches, who was a member of musical duo, Buk Bak.
Ronnie, 36, died on November 21 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a heart attack.
The Greater Accra Regional branch of MUSIGA, in a statement said, it will hold a week's commemoration for the late musician at King Solomon in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.
MUSIGA noted in the statement that "Ronnie was one artiste that helped in making the “art form Hip-life” of Ghana music industry today."
The Union further added: "Our plans are to provoke the history and contribution of this group in the music industry through the media. We are planning to merge this event to remind the Ghanaian and the rest of the world about the volumes of artistic works that has come out of this artistic struggle of this very unique group."
The statement, signed by the Greater Accra regional chairman of the musicians' body, Nana Kwaku Duah (Tic-Tac), said dates for the funeral, fund raising and a celebration concert would be announced on a later date.
Buk Bak was composed of Prince Bright aka Bling Sparkles and Ronnie Coaches.
The group was versatile and rapped in Ga, Twi, and Pidgin, and was the first hiplife group in Ghana to make a successful career out of Ga music.
