Gilbert Aggrey Abeiku Santana, celebrated radio presenter and host of ' Ekwanso Dwodwo' on Okay FM, is divorcing his wife, Maggie, says information reaching NEWS-ONE .
Interestingly, reports say the two will remain close friends but not husband and wife.
Though both Abeiku and Maggie have remained mum over the issue, family sources say the necessary divorce documents are currently before a court and the process will be finalised in a matter of weeks if not days.
When NEWS-ONE reached Abeiku over the matter he said it was a 'purely private matter'.
'When I was getting married to my wife, I did not seek the permission or consent of the public so I wonder why I need to explain anything about my marriage to the public,' Abeiku added.
Maggie, on her part, simply avoided the paper in its quest to speak with her over the divorce issue.
NEWS-ONE has however learnt that both families have held a series of meetings over the pending divorce and have agreed that since both of them want to separate, there is little or nothing that can be done about it.
'During the meetings, Abeiku and Maggie were very friendly and it is surprising that they say they are having constant misunderstandings over fundamental issues. They are adults and we cannot decide for them,' a family source disclosed and said Abeiku and Maggie had only gone to the courts to officialise their separation.
For some months now, Abeiku's 'Ekwanso Dwodwo' evening show has earned the largest radio audience in the capital city, especially with its newly-introduced segment, 'People's Court' .
During the show, almost every commercial driver within the city and most shops have their radio frequencies tuned to 107.1 and there is hardly any street or corner where Abeiku's voice would not be heard blaring through radio speakers.
He simply hijacks the airwaves with the show.
Another segment of the 'Ekwanso Dwodwo' that has become the talk of town is the gossip segment known as 'Akikakika', during which Abeiku uses innuendos to describe public figures and then broadcast jaw-dropping secrets about them.
Abeiku's show has become very popular and a source of knowing the hottest gossips about celebrities, politicians and public figures.
