Celebrity babies are often in news for pretty, exotic and unconventional names. Biblical characters and entities have been inspiration for Christian baby names for centuries but these days, it is the Hebrew version of the Biblical names that have caught fancy of the celebrity parents. Here is our pick for Top 10 celebrity baby names inspired by the Bible:

1. Abel: Canadian actor Will Arnett & the US comedian Amy Poehler named their second child Abel. In Bible, the son of the first man Adam was called Abel.

2. Ammon Michael & Enoch Daniel: Ashly DelGrosso Costa (known as the professional dancer of Dancing with the Stars) and field producer Mike Costa have named their children Ammon and Enoch. Ammon was the son of Lot in Bible. Enoch is a more unusual name. Enoch appeared in the Book of Genesis of the Hebrew Bible. He was the ancestor of Noah and was one of the two people whom the Good took to heaven without dying.

3. Avri Roel & Exion Elias: Children of movie actor and Robert Downey Jr. & producer Susan Downey, Avri and Exion certainly have Bible-inspired names. Avri is short for 'Abraham' and Exion is Latin for 'Elijah'.

4. Benjamin Rein: New England Patriots football star Tom Brady and Brazilian fashion model Gisele Bundchen chose a name of one of the 12 tribes for their firstborn son. Now, he shares his name with the Prime Minister of Israel.

5. Levi: Musician Sheryl Crow is known as much for her philanthropy as she is known for her Grammy award winning songs. In 2010, she adopted her second son Levi James. Levi was the given name of the disciple Matthew.

6. Matthias: Actor duo Will Ferrell & Viveca Paulin named their second child Matthias – a shortened version of the 'Matityahu' mentioned in the Bible. Matityahu was the father of the Maccabean brothers and head of the Hasmonean dynasty.

7. Moses: Mega actress Gwyneth Paltrow said that she had named her son after the Coldplay song 'Moses' which her husband and the band's lead vocalist Chris Martin had written for her. But it is hard to miss the Biblical reference to the name she chose.

8. Suri: The name of the daughter of movie stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is the Biblical Hebrew alternative to 'Sarah', which means 'princess'.

9. Trinity: Country music singer Trace Adkins and his wife's daughter Trinity Lee was born in 2004. The Holy Trinity in the Bible refers to the Father (God), Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.

10. Yeshua Bonadio O'Connor: Sinead O'Connor & Frank Bonadio chose the name Yeshua for their son which is used as an alternative name for 'Jesus'. Several other Biblical characters are called 'Yeshua' or 'Yehoshua' which means 'saviour' or 'salvation'.
