Adaklu Have, (V/R), Oct. 13, GNA - The Ghana branch of World Mission Outreach Fellowship (WMOF), a USA based Christian organisation is to form Under-12 and Under-17 football teams in eight communities in the Ho Municipal and the Adaklu-Anyigbe District of the Volta Region.
Reverend Gideon Gogo, Ghana Director of WMOF in a brief with GNA Sports said each of the 16 beneficiary teams would be given a set of jerseys and two footballs.
He said the initiative was to promote the game of football among the youth, which he noted was "fast waning in the two districts".
Rev. Gogo said it was also a way of propagating the gospel to the youth to lead decent lives and making use of their leisure.
He said the teams would play round-robin leagues after which the skilled ones among them who excel would be selected to form the Under-12 and Under-17 teams to compete in the Volta Regional Football Association competitions.
Rev. Gogo said 25 orphans in each of the communities would also be sponsored by WMOF to have formal education.
The beneficiary communities are Ho and Ziavi in the Ho Municipalilty, Adaklu-Have, Adaklu-Kodzobi, Adaklu-Waya, Adaklu-Kpatovoe, Ziope and Amuzudeve in the Adaklu-Anyigbe District.
