Accra, March 28, GNA - The Dansoman Circuit of the Methodist Church of Ghana, on Sunday, climaxed activities marking its 20th anniversary celebrations with a call on Christians to be "the salt of the world by living righteous lives".
The societies, which form the Dansoman Circuit, include the Mt. Olivet Methodist Society, Sukura Nursery Society, Ebenezer Methodist Society, the Ebenezer Down Nursery Society and the Rev. J.C. Mensah Memorial Society.
The rest are the Sakaman Methodist Society, the Bread of Life Society, the Maranatha Methodist Society, the New Aplaku Methodist Society and the Kokrobite Nursery Society.
Delivering the sermon, the Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Kweku Asante, Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church of Ghana, praised the circuit for its contribution towards Methodism in the country.
He urged Christians not to conform to the world by engaging in immoral activities which demeaned Christ and Christianity as a whole.
"Although a lot of us proclaim Christ, our attitudes are far contrary to what Christ has commissioned us to do as his ambassadors," he said.
Most Reverend Asante bemoaned the low level of faithfulness and truthfulness that had bedevilled Christians in the country and charged all to always stand for the truth no matter the consequence.
"As Christians, we should always let our yes be yes and our no be a big no. By so doing we will gain God's favour in all our endeavours," he added.
The Very Reverend George Mensah, Superintendent Minister, Dansoman Circuit, praised the various societies for making the Circuit a Grade 'A' Circuit in the country.
He said due to the Circuit great love for the spreading of the Gospel, it became the first Circuit to win the Most Effective Circuit in Evangelism in 1997.
"We have also been able to produce two out of the three Lay Chairpersons the Accra Diocese had had so far," he added.
The Dansoman circuit was created out of the North Accra Circuit in October 1989 with Mt. Olivet Methodist Society as the only full fledged Society as the focal point.
On 31st March 1990, the Circuit was inaugurated with Reverend Isaac Bonful, the then Minister-In-Charge of Mr. Olivet inducted into office as the first Superintendent Minister.
Through synod directives, the nine other Societies were made to join Mt. Olivet bringing to ten the number of societies forming the Circuit.
