The National Media Commission (NMC) has appointed William Ampem Darko as the new Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
Mr. Darko, 54, whose appointment takes effect from July2, this year, is a lecturer and consultant at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
As an accomplished marketer and financial analyst, Mr. Darko has hands-on experience in Change Management, Institutional Development, Institutional Development and Rejuvenation. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration (Accounting Option) from the University of Ghana and an Executive MBA from GIMPA. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Ghana Institution of Managers.
A release issued in Accra and signed by George Sarpong, Executive Secretary of NMC, noted the Commission had appointed also Kwabena Sarpong-Anane, a former Solicitor-General of GBC as Deputy Director-General.
Until his appointment, Mr. Sarpong-Anane was the Central Regional Director of the Corporation.
He had worked in various departments of GBC including Programmes Operations, Regional Broadcasts, School Broadcasts and External Service,
Mr. Sarpong-Anane studied at the University of Cape Coast, the Ghana School of Law and the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
