Former Hearts of Oak captain, Jacob Nettey has told Accra based Asempa FM the secret behind winning the 2000 CAF Champions League.
The Phobians won the CAF Champions League on December 17, 2000, defeating Esperance de Tunis by 5:2 on aggregate under the leadership of the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio.
The Rainbow team has since struggled to make an impact in Africa and Nettey who was the first skipper to lift the trophy in the history of the club has disclosed what helped them to conquer Africa.
“That time the unity in the team especially the playing body helped us to win the trophy.
“The technical team led by the late Jones Attuguayefio and the management led by Harry Zakuor were in good terms.
“Anytime we were in camp, the team was very strong. Unity was the secret that helped us a lot because it wasn’t easy to win the CAF Champions League,” he added.
