Quincy Owusu-Abeyie failed trial session at Real Valladolid

Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie failed to make the cut at struggling Spanish side Real Valladolid during a two-week trial at the club.

Abeyie, 27, underwent a trial session with the European outfit after leaving Greek side Panathinakos last year, as revealed exclusively by Ghana's leading football portal.

However, the journey man will have to look elsewhere after failing to convince manager Ignacio Martinez of his quality.

“Abeyie has not lived up to expectation. He came here so we could have a look at how he is physically and we've already made a final decision. He's far from what we were expecting,” he is quoted by Inside Spanish Football.

“He would have needed at least 15 days to recover his principal virtue and strength, his speed.”

The Dutch-born player spent his formative years at the youth system of Ajax before moving to English side Arsenal to begin his professional career, where he featured in 23 games and scored twice.

Abeyie is keen for regular playing time to enhance his chances of gatecrashing Ghana's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The former Spartak Moscow man has played for many clubs in Europe including Celta Vigo,  Birmingham City, Cardiff City, Málaga and Panathinaikos.
