Ghana U20 star midfielder Adu Tutu Skelley has expressed disappointment at his inability to break into the Black Stars squad despite being tip for success at a tender age.
Tutu, 33, was the fans-favourite at the 1999 CAF African Youth Championship which was won on home soil.
His halcyon era was a period marked by the glorious days of Italian trainer Giuseppe Dossena who built a fine Ghana side through youth development and an eye for success.
Tutu's second-half appearances for the Ghana U20 side at the Ghana 99 Youth Championship earned him the tag a super-sub.
However, despite his precocious exploits at youth level, the former King Faisal star was unable to meet expectations at the senior level for Ghana as he faded out scene – being limited to Austrian football.
He admits he is still disappointed with his inability to make an appearance at senior level for Ghana despite being tipped for greatness.
“It still pains me that I couldn't play for Ghana. I remember I played with the team during a friendly game in Italy which led to my inclusion in the U20 squad but since then I never played for the team again,” he told Accra-based Happy FM.
Anytime I had an invitation from the Ghana national team, my club felt I was too dedicated to my country's course and things got too late.”
Some of Tutu's Ghana team-mates at the time include Owusu Afriyie, Sammy Agyei, Laryea Kingston, Baffour Gyan, Aziz Ansah and Emmanuel Adjogu.
