Sly Tetteh passes on

Accra, Sept. 5, GNA - Ghana football has been dealt a great blow by the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Sly Tetth, President of Liberty Professionals FC.

Alhjai Sly Tetteh died on Saturday morning at a Cape Coast hospital after complaining of dizziness during a match involving retired footballers to climax the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Festival. He was 54.

The cause of his death remains unknown.
The veteran football administrator was buried in line with Islamic custom at the Osu cemetery, Accra on Sunday.

Present at the burial service were scores of football enthusiasts and sympathizers, including executives members of the Ghana Football Association, and representatives of football clubs amongst others.

Sly Tetteh was the President and Founder of Liberty Professionals, the Club that nurtured a number of first class Ghanaian footballers including Michael Essien of Chelsea, Sulley Muntari, John Paintsil, Derek Boateng, Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan amongst others.

He also has three football academies under the Liberty banner in Ghana, Togo and Kenya that oversees the training of dozens of youngsters united by a desire to win professional contracts in Europe and other places.

Alhaji Sly Tetteh's last public appearance was at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday when Ghana beat their Swaziland counterparts 2-0 in their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

He was survived by two wives and seven children.
