Former Ghana international David Accam has called on Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to prioritise team cohesion as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His appeal follows Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Wales in a warm-up match at the Cardiff City Stadium, a fixture that offered an early glimpse of the team’s shape ahead of the global tournament.
Accam, who remains cautious about predicting Ghana’s prospects, believes the newly assembled technical team must move swiftly to resolve long-standing issues affecting consistency and collective performance.
“At the moment, we have a new technical team, and hopefully they will solve the problems we had before,” he told Graphic Sports.
“They need to bring cohesion to the team and help the players perform better together," Accam added.
Ghana, preparing for their fifth appearance at the World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia—widely regarded as one of the toughest groups of the tournament.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before taking on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group fixture comes against Croatia on June 27.
The four-time African champions are aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010, having exited at the group stage in both 2014 and 2022.
