Jordan Ayew Set For U-20 Captaincy

Olympique Marseille's teenage prodigy Jordan Ayew is set to be handed the captaincy for Ghana's next U-20 team after showing sterling qualities with the French top flight side.

The move ensures that he takes over from his elder brother Andre who led the Black Satellites to Africa's first U20 World Cup title late last year.

This also means Ayew will be following in the footsteps of his legendary father Abedi Pele, who was also a captain of one of Ghana's national teams in the 1990s.

According to the Black Satellites management committee chairman Jordan Anagbla, after observing the players with the technical team in Ghana and abroad they are convinced the youngster in the Ayew footballing dynasty can lead the country to conquer the world once again.

“When we settled on his elder brother Dede Ayew for the Satellites team, we were criticized severely but anybody close to the team knows how that helped so we won't hesitate to pick Jordan if he meets the criteria,”

“I think we have to look beyond the fact that he's succeeding his brother and assess his qualities. I know him and I don't think he will be a bad choice.

“We have not confirmed him though but I must say he's a suitable candidate.”
